This is a random, not-thought-out idea so take it for that. ;-) We have some ideas floating around about "rewarding" folks that take the time and resources to create lessons. Do we want to reward folks that help us with less visable things like infrastructure and development/theming? Many folks have given of themselves and resources over the last year without much in the way of public acknowledgment. We could use some more help in a number of places. One random idea is to simply make a "sponsors page" on DrupalDojo.com.
The only concern I have is who is gets in there. As in do we have a line (that would always be sort of fuzzy) or does everyone who ever helps on any level get equal billing? If we had levels, what would the delimiters be? Other than time since last activity or something I can't think of any easily quantifiable thingy (since we aren't talking about money, but time and non-monetary resources.) Seems kinda slippery but I wanted to get the idea for the site out there and see if there are better ideas for how to use the website to encourage people/companies to help the Dojo out.

senpai commentedIt seems to me that having a Sponsors page would allow us to keep a running list of people who have contributed in some way towards building the dojo's momentum. It could be as simple as a list of names, or it could be a linklist of external sites that have donatet their time, money, or resources. Each item in the link list could have a taxo tag, in order to better sort the peoples. I also think that, in the interests of giving dojo sensei their due rewards, we allocate a small box in each node-lesson.tpl.php for the teachers to upload a clickable graphic, logo, or image, as in "This lesson was taught by: ______".

senpai commentedUmm, I was expecting a pastie.textmate URL, but this'll do nicely too!

gusaus commentedDefinitely should have a page/section devoted to crediting partners and (non-monetary) donors. IF the Drupal Association could act as a conduit for collecting/allocating funds (related issue here - http://drupal.org/node/206158), we'll be able to create a lot more value for Drupal and enable more people/companies to contribute ($$ is one way of doing it).
here are a few examples that may serve as inspiration:

add1sun commentedDruplicon> http://drupal.org/node/203818 => Sponsor page? => Drupal Dojo 2.0, Website, normal, active, 1 IRC mention
[15:05]
[15:06] i propose want
[15:06] +1 want
[15:06] I propose somewhere between want and no
[15:06] +1 need
[15:06] :P
[15:06] +1 want
[15:06] er scratch that
[15:06] -1
[15:06] dmitrig01, that would be nice to have
[15:06] yeah
[15:06] nice to have
[15:07] hm, ok so we have 1 need, 2 wants and 1 NTH
[15:07] anymore votes?
[15:07] I'm voting negative, cause I don't think this one is well enough hashed out to even vote on yet
[15:07] -1
[15:08] * allisterb_ (n=allister@cuscon47511.tstt.net.tt) has joined #drupal-dojo
[15:08] yeah ^
[15:08] think this is something that ties in w/ the whole incentives 'meta' discussion which 'should' be further hashed out in discussion threads
[15:08] -1
[15:08] yeah we need more discussion on implementation
[15:08] I agree 100% with senpai
[15:08] Once we get this into ideas lik, "Should we reward people for waking up in the morning", and stuff like that, let' revisit the voting
[15:08] ok, so now we have
[15:08] 1 need, 2 wants and 2 nos
[15:09] NikLP?
[15:09] Watch out, here's the coolmeister...!
[15:09] lol
[15:09] meh :)
[15:09] -1
[15:09] I think sponsorship should be site wide, not on "a page"
[15:09] ok, anymore votes?
[15:09] brenda003?
[15:09] NikLP: well that sounds more like a +1
[15:10] LOL
[15:10] i do not know
[15:10] well we can always revisit it later if things become mre clear
[15:10] it's 1 need, 2 wants, 3 nos
[15:11] why would you not credit supporters? seems strange to vote down the concept
[15:11] * MorbusIff has quit ("http://www.disobey.com/")
[15:11] +1 want
[15:11] and there is the tie-breaker
[15:11] * dmitrig01 wonders why we aren't using plurality voting
[15:11] The issue is called "Sponsor Page"
[15:11] i think until anything is worked out a page will due just fine
[15:12] i think it works as a nice minimal thing
[15:12] We can open up another issue that credits supporters in :15 second ads, or similar
[15:12] that is easy to implement
[15:12] yeah, keep it.
[15:12] +1 want
[15:12] +1
[15:12] ok, that looks like a tally of +1 want

add1sun commentedProject is abandoned. Closing all issues.

gusaus commentedA page and/or sections/blocks on the future (and current) Dojo site to credit partners, sponsors, and individual donors will provide a valuable branding opportunity and incentive to those who wish to support the Dojo.
There are many examples that set a precedent for this:

senpai commentedAs I said in #1 above, a sponsors page on the new site is not out of the question, but is in fact a good idea. I think it should be an unordered list of sponsor's name + 60x60px thumbnail image, and should be sorted randomly upon every page load. In addition, I'm going on record as saying I think its a bad idea to give specific credit to a certain individual's accomplishments, as PBS or 1secondfilm have done. That would promote diversity in this community rather than unification, methinks.

gusaus commentedBased on some lively conversations (http://www.disobey.com/bot/log/drupal-dojo/2008-10-13), we have a consensus that supporters (including monetary) of the Dojo will be credited on on both the new site, content generated, but also on the current site. We are working on providing clear guidelines regarding how we'd credit sponsors, what they would/wouldn't be getting in return, and also who would be acceptable sponsors here - http://drupal.org/node/206158
Comment #10
gusaus commentedWe're also looking at if/how sponsors can be recognized on the Drupal Dojo and related groups.

gusaus commented#9 is irrelevant until there is clear definition regarding how this may work.
