Moved from the drupaldojo.org planning book. Original author is dmitrig01.

We have to get our thoughts out somewhere, so the Dojo Blog would be the place.
At the moment, there is not space on drupaldojo.com to put announcements, news, or updates of any sort, and that kind of thing might (and probably will) be needed in the future.
There will be a blog.drupaldojo.com to solve that.

The blog will have blog module enabled, and will be on a multi-site installation with the main drupaldojo.com site so accounts will be shared. The only feature of this site will be the blog. Even user profile pages will be on drupaldojo.com.

The blog will also be syndicated onto the drupaldojo.com homepage, allowing for announcements/news/updates.

See attached Blog workflow graph.

Hm, well we can also just have a news section of dd.com. I'm not sure I get needing a whole new site nor a need for blog module. Or are you proposing that every user on dd.com gets a blog?

I thought about the "everyone gets laid a blog" thing, but this is on the fence a bit. It really depends on whether DD is going to be a social network for Drupal wannabe coders (which I don't personally think is a dreadful idea) or just a "lesson place". The blog idea realistically belongs in the former camp.

News etc is fine, but what would the news be? :P Events would be quite nice to cross-post maybe, for developer meet-ups?

I like the former idea - I want the dojo to evolve into a social network of Drupal wannabes

Ok well I think this needs a new issue then, as blogs is a different kettle of ballgame to the "is/isn't a social network" thing.

Creating even more places for potential people to go to is just confusing, in my opinion. I'm not against the idea of blogs in of themselves, as a place to allow people to post articles, thoughts, or blog-like Drupal related things can be a Good Thing, but is the subdomain necessary?

[14:42] is there another issue that has the "Dojo Planet" idea?
[14:42] josh_k: that's the same issue
[14:42] What if our 'dojo blog' was aggregated into the Planet?
[14:42] that would be too, but that's a separate thing
[14:42] Is that this issue, or another one?
[14:43] yeah, i just don't see the need for multiple blogs
[14:43] that's just an entry in planet tho, you'd need a feed to plumb in to it
[14:43] one blog, multiple authors?
[14:43] right
[14:43] blog module..?
[14:43] haha - it really comes down to this being something in which we, the dojo, are writing the 'original content' - i "don't" think that's a good idea - so for the newsletter, we could work with/use the same content as the 'drupal newsletter' - for a blog, i'm against creating our own original content
[14:43] :)
[14:43] -1
[14:43] i think we should create a new issue for dojo news/announcements
