Hi,

I eventually want to have ffmpeg running on my own server but for the purpose of trying this module I've purchased transcoding credit from openpackage. At the moment I can't get a video transcoded and displayed on my site. As I didn't have any vids on my PC I downloaded a demo vid from the openpackage site and then tried uploading to my site after entering my login details in the video settings page. I have this error after uploading though:

The selected file could not be copied, because no file by that name exists. Please check that you supplied the correct filename.

I'm not sure whether this matters but I'll mention them just in case...the file i'm uploading is mpeg. Plus when I go to my video settings page the username I enter remains entered but the password is blank (should the password remain entered or is this ok?).

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Justin.

A few people see to be having this problem:
http://drupal.org/node/236468
http://drupal.org/node/237190

Please try with 5.x-3.2. Also, can everyone please post here with their version of php and whether they are using windows or linux to run Drupal.

The password disappears after you have entered it as it gets hashed immediately for security.

Thanks for the reply jbrown. I've installed the 5.x-3.2 version but still have the same problem. I've tried in both mpeg and wmv formats with the same result:

"The selected file could not be copied, because no file by that name exists. Please check that you supplied the correct filename."

The versions I'm running are:

Drupal 5.3
PHP 4.4.4
Linux

Thanks for any more help,
Justin.

Jboo - I seems likely that this is a php4 problem. I don't have access to a php4 system at the moment. Would I be able to have a poke around your setup (if it is accessible via the Internet)?

I am also have the same error message problem "The selected file could not be copied, because no file by that name exists. Please check that you supplied the correct filename."

So I very curious what the problem is and hope to be able to use this module once the problem is fixed.

I am running PHP version 4.3.11

Okay - try 5.x-3.3. It works on Jboo's site.

Jboo: I had to install mediaplayer.swf on your installation.

The problem was that in php5 objects are always passed by reference, but not in php4. The way Drupal uses objects like arrays is _so_ stupid!

Hey thanks a million I have done three videos and all has run very smooth!!!!

Thanks for your help, I appreciate it. It seems to be working (although I've tried a couple of times with wmv and it's failed to transcode). I'll test a few more vids to see how I get on.

Thanks again.

I upgraded to 5.x-3.3 and when I submit the video I don't get the "The selected file could not be copied, because no file by that name exists." error anymore!!!!

Now I'm getting this error: Transcoding failed. Please try another video.

I've tried uploading .mpg4 and .avi files and get the same error.

I'm using php 4.4.8
Drupal 5.2
Windows 2003 server with IIS 6.0

I've also got poormans cron running and when I manually run cron I get "The selected file could not be copied, because no file by that name exists." error.

Any ideas??

Two things:

  1. Please do not hijack issues. The bug that this issue is for has been resolved.
  2. It is essential that you search before creating a new issue - #221893: FFmpeg transcoding doesn't work on windows deals with the bug you are experiencing.
