I was looking through your documentation and you don't mention which version of OFC to use.

There are now two versions. The standard which is downloaded at:
http://teethgrinder.co.uk/open-flash-chart/

Then there is a second that is in alpha phase which can be downloaded at:

http://teethgrinder.co.uk/open-flash-chart-2/

Please be more explicit in which version of OFC your great module supports.

Chris,

Charts module uses, in fact, another module to manage it http://drupal.org/project/open_flash_chart_api. It uses version 1

However, im planning to build a v2 integration that will not need this external module.

If that's the case, wouldn't it make sense to add it as a dependency?
