I was just linking to a bunch of modules and noticed that pathauto didn't have a url like http://drupal.org/project/pathauto but instead was http://drupal.org/node/17345.

how ironic!

It is good that you brought this up because I was wondering if I should raise an issue. It's not just pathauto, there are plenty of other modules too, although I am not able to remember them immediately.

This is, of course, a drupal.org issue - as the pathauto maintainer I have no control over aliasing on drupal.org

I do agree, all projects should have meaningful aliases...

This is a longstanding bug in project.module: The aliases are only created if I edit the node again after saving it first. Or maybe you need advanced permissions for this.
