johnnocChanged the title of this issue and tagged the following issues as duplicates:
Comments on http://drupal.org/conference-vancouver-2006 #370263: delete comments
Comments on http://drupal.org/node/140597 for DrupalCon Barcelona 2007. Issue at #370249: delete comments
IMO, these pages are actually not part of the Drupal Handbooks. It's a Drupal.org section "Events" that utilized the book module. So i guess we shouldn't touch these... or are all "book" content type under the docs "jurisdiction"?
Also, are we still using this top-level book? Or should we deprecate it in favor of http://groups.drupal.org/events ? Also, If there wil be an announcement of a particular event then the http://drupal.org/forum/8 is more appropriate, IMO

johnnocjust adding Request for Comments in the title.

add1sun commentedHm, yeah the Events and Google books should probably be left alone for now, other than removing obvious support requests or spam. They were designed for comments. A while ago I investigated removing them from the main handbooks comments list but the query necessary to check for the top-level parent on every page would have strained the d.o server way too much. :-/ We should add this info to the incorporating comments page for the time being. Changing the component to reflect that this is the action item on this issue now.
I am hesitant to move the existing Events book stuff until the redesign gets going and we decide on a good location/presentation. Since it is only used for DrupalCons at this point and those are infrequent, I'm not too concerned about leaving it alone right now. Once we document this for our needs, as above, then we should probably switch this to an issue for the redesign.

johnnocI added the info to the Incorporating comments page.

add1sun commentedI'm going to move this to the redesign queue to see if anyone wants to discuss it there. If not, close it. This isn't really a docs issue.
