I want to know what everyone thinks is the best image module. I'm not looking at the modules that allow for image galleries, but modules that allow for uploading images and creating thumbnails while you are creating a page/story. I am interested in using one though. Currently, I just hardcode the image in and change the size if I need too and that works just fine. Should I change from doing this?

Thoughts please.

I used the following modules when I was on drupal 4.6.5 (thoses modules have not yet been ported to 4.7 unfortunately) :

http://drupal.org/project/image
http://drupal.org/project/img_assist

Image allows for uploading images to your website as stories, and img_assist allows for easily putting the images you created this way in a post.

With tinyMCE it is a must have...

image.module in CVS works with 4.7
However there appears to be no img_assist.module for 4.7 yet.

The img_assist module has a new maintainer who is working on a complete rewrite (http://drupal.org/node/32506).

I just installed image.module from cvs on drupal 4.7 and i have img_assist for 4.7 also installed.

I first installed img_assist without image.module (as I couldn't find a 4.7 listed) and I got this error "The image module must be enabled to use img_assist."

You could also use the image module and the HtmlArea module > http://drupal.org/project/htmlarea

HtmlArea gives you a WYSIWYG-editor where you can upload and insert images while creating your pages/stories .

I was unable to make the image module work with htmlarea, but perhaps I missed something...

What happened?(it was a little while since I installed the HtmlArea so I really don't remember if I run in to any specific problems)

Thanks ;)

Best is such subjective term. Perhaps best for your use would be a better question. In anycase, I have used the inline module for previously sized images used inline in a post. You can also use the image module with img src tags.

Inline module seems to be good, does inline cvs module work with 4.7 ?

Apache is bandwidth limited, PHP is CPU limited, and MySQL is memory limited.

In terms of basic functionality both acidfree and image seem to be similar.

In my personal opinion, acidfree's presentation is nicer looking. Acidfree is also themable, so its visual presentation details could be easily modified.

Acidfree is not compatible with node_privacy_byrole.module though. node_privacy_byrole.module may be an important feature set for many people.

Why not install all the available photo modules, work with them and make you own comparisons? That is what I did.
