when retrieving mail, the total number of mail in my inbox and sent folder is retrieved

I am using Imap not pop.
and have 7/21 version of Mailhandler installed so i don't think it is quite the same issue.

What mail service are you using for the mailbox? (gmail, yahoo, other, custom)? I am wondering if you need to set the "Folder" to something other than INBOX (which is the default).
