This is a list of modules from CVS that were determined to be compatible through either having updated FormsAPI and code newer than the beginning of this year or I tested them and they still worked such as many of the input_filter modules.
The modules that I found still referring to the old form_ calls I marked needs FormsAPI update, they may also need other updates. The modules with questionmarks appeared to be compatible but I wasn't able to test them.
I removed all of the modules that have 4.7 releases from this list but if you want to see the complete list goto my blog at http://robb.commtechdiary.org/node/2/

THIS IS GREAT!!!
Many, many thanks for this more than excellent list!!! Looking to the posts at the forum, I'm definitely sure that tons of people have been waiting for this information!!!
You bet I'm one of them (:
BTW
Do you have the intention to keep this list up-to-date?

I'll keep the list up to date if people can notify me when they update their modules to be compatible with 4.7, either PM me or just comment on here.
Announcement in developer's environment?
Sounds good!
I don't know anything about the Drupal developer's environment, but may be it's possible to make some kind of announcement there? So that maintainers of modules get informed about this list...

Isn't this page actually the list of the newest modules iadded to the contrib repository?

http://drupal.org/project/Modules is supposed to do this job, why add to the confusion ?
ALso if would be nice if http://drupal.org/project/Modules could tell when a module is using the new .install system introduced with 4.7.

Well, then it is really
Well, then it is really confusing: the official module page of drupal.org has a 4.7 menu, yet it doesn't list the modules compatible with 4.7 and one has to find a thread in the forums to know this ?!!
Brakkar
Well...
The 4.7x modules listed in the "modules" section show those 4.7 versions which have been "released". The ones in CVS are the lastest "working copy" - some have had 4.7 functionality added already, but are not finished for whatever reason - so the final 4.7 release has not been posted. The list here is very useful because you can find out which ones will work, but might need some tweaking or bug fixes.
There's a Better Way
Developers can use DRUPAL-4-7 as a revision tag rather than as a branch tag if they want to indicate that the module is being developed for Drupal 4.7. This can easily be converted to a branch tag when the time comes that a branch is needed. They can indicate that the module is not stable by making the cvs version the default download.
appreciate this
I am in the process of migrating my installation to 4.7 and a few days back
I had to create my own little scratchpad to keep track of which modules
I was using were ready or not for 4.7. Your list is of immense use, partly
because you (robbt) seem to have independently looked at the whole kitchen sink.
Many thanks. -S

Where should we go to find the latest and most current info?
EXCELLENT!
Robbt - thank you so much for your excellent work!
In the future, where should we go to find the latest and most current module info, this thread or your web site at http://robb.commtechdiary.org/node/2/? It's my experience that I can't edit some of the forum threads I initiate here on drupal.org, and I don't know if this forum thread is one of those that you, similarly, won't be able to edit. So, until such time that this type of information is kept resident and regularly maintained at drupal.org, which I think it should be, should we simply visit your web site?
Also, it would be helpful if, when making updates in the future to the list of modules, whether here or on your web site, you could include the date you last made changes to the list. For example, something like, "This list was last updated on April 25, 2006." For the longest time, it was so annoying on the Drupal contributed modules download page not knowing what the date of last change to the module was since it only included the date the module was originally added, which meant changes could have been made that day yet the visible date could have been from a week, a month, or a year ago! So, I do appreciate seeing a date associated with everything if it's not too much trouble for you. :)
Thanks again for your terrific work!!! :) The Drupal community greatly appreciates your dedication "above and beyond the call of duty."

This is a very helpful tool. Thanks robbt!
I'm developing 3 sites using 4.7RC3 and it has been frustrating to do trial and error module installs. I usually check the issues page of each module that I want to use to see if there is mention of 4.7. This list will be helpful as I get beyond the modules I consider must-haves.

Agreed...
This list could be harmful quickly if it doesn't stay current. I'm all for keeping this up if it will be looked after on a semi-daily basis. Otherwise I think this does more harm than good.

I haven't thought of a
I haven't thought of a non-intensive way to update it.
But no it hasn't been updated.
The only way I can think is if someone were to scan these modules and see which ones in the CVS has been updated since then mid April when I posted it originally.
Can this process be automated?
Robbt,
On April 19 you wrote,
It's great that we have so many module developers working on so many exciting and helpful projects, but have they been informing you as to the status of their modules in order for you to keep things updated? Although I commend your efforts, it seems like a LOT of work for you to have to compile on a fairly regular basis if the list is to be kept up to date. If it's not updated fairly regularly, it starts losing credibility.
So...
What do folks think about the possibililty of convincing the powers that be to automate this highly desired (critical?) need? For example, couldn't someone create a table that gets populated with any module and which is automatically filled in based upon the following criteria?
1. Module name
2. Maintained by
3. Compatible with version x (e.g. "4.7 & 4.6", or "only 4.7", or "only CVS")
4. Date last modified
5. Comments (e.g. "needs FormsAPI update")
#1 above would be a text box
#2 above would be a text box for the developer's name
#3 above would be a check box for the module developer to check off applicable Drupal versions his/her module works with
#4 above would be some type of date entry
#5 above would be a text box
What criteria am I forgetting that should be included???
I have absolutely NO CLUE as to how module developers check in a module, but couldn't someone create some type of required fields during the module check in process with at least the above 5 criteria in order for everyone to know a module's status within a reasonable level?
If the fields can't be required during the module check in process, couldn't the fields be created and then have the community establish the expectation that module developers should, and easily could, visit the "Module Status Page" to update their module's status for all to know?
Just my $0.01. :) Sorry, I'm a penny short today. ;)

People seem to be confused
This process IS automated. The project modules list. If a module does NOT appear on the 4.7 list, then the maintainer has not marked it as ready for 4.7. It *may* work on 4.7, but there are absolutely no guarantees.
If you don't see a module on the list, contact the maintainer and ask them to mark it ready for 4.7 if it works. There is little value in maintaining some flat file here.
Confused? Perhaps… ;)
Hi Boris,
I hope all is well in Vancouver. Thank you for your comment and for your many contributions to Drupal.
From the Drupal modules page, I realize that...
I also realize that most CVS modules do not work with a stable release and shouldn't be mixed together, but that some CVS modules work perfectly fine with a stable release, and some CVS modules' developers will state this as in, "This CVS module works with the a.b.c. release."
With regard to the issue being discussed here, I think the reasoning is quite valid for the many comments. Did you read this thread and Killes' response? All we're trying to do is figure out which CVS modules work with 4.7. I'm certain Robbt did a lot of work to figure out the status of the many CVS modules, and I greatly appreciate his efforts to share results with the Drupal community.
What I'm trying to figure out is how to encourage discussion and automation of a process that would tell us which CVS modules, although not entirely finished, are "good enough" to work with the latest stable release, in this case 4.7. We understand that CVS modules are not finished products and that the majority of them shouldn't be mixed with the latest stable release, but we believe there should be a way to know which CVS modules, as PakWaan wrote...
I agree with you that a flat file is not very helpful, but there should be, in my opinion, a way for module developers to let us know which CVS modules, although not perfect or perhaps even finished, are good enough for 4.7, with an extra loud "User beware" warning, even though those modules may not yet be completely ready.
I hope that helps clear the confusion. If I'm completely off base and my idea is not at all valid, please let me know. I realize what I'm proposing above is not for complete newbies but rather for those of us who are willing to take a risk in using CVS modules and who have some basic knowldege of Drupal.
Thank you.

Nice list, but...
What is FormsAPI? There is no module named FormsAPI in 4.7 or cvs lists.
Is it Forms Updater? I installed Forms Updater cvs with another module, but it did not seem to make the csv module work with 4.7. No instrucitons.
If FormsAPI is not an add on module, what is it?
How do I use it?
The Forms API
It's an API to give complete control over forms in Drupal. You can now theme them how you want to, have them span multiple pages and more. I don't even understand it completely myself, I just know that it allows for some great improvements. Search around the handbooks and message boards for more information if you want to learn more.
