When you get 'parse error' it usually means that a php error has occurred on the remote server. What version of services are you using?

I do not see any apache or Drupal error messages at the destination website either.

I created a new user and added new content (just to make sure the problem didn't arise if the user already existed at the destination server). I get the same problem.

I just installed services-6.x-3.0-unstable2.tar.gz on the remote/destination website. same problem

No you don't need Services on the source. Are you using XMLRPC? Can you tell me what version of Services is on the remote host?

I was using services-6.x-2 (stable) before.

Is there any other area where I could look for logs? Apache and Drupal (dblog) aren't telling me anything.

On the destination side, this is all I see :

Absolutely nothing on the source.

You should definitely be using Services 6.x-2.0 stable. The 3.x is completely unreliable right now and doesn't even include xmlrpc.

The best way to debug this, and it is ugly, but it will work is to do the following.

1) Open up includes/xmlrpc.inc on your source server.
2) At line 445 you will see the following:

$result = drupal_http_request($url, array("Content-Type" => "text/xml"), 'POST', $xmlrpc_request->xml);

Under that add this:

watchdog('deploy', print_r($result, TRUE));

3) Run your deployment.
4) Open up admin/reports/dblog and check out the last entry labeled 'deploy'. Open it up. The PHP error from the destination server should be in there.
5) Paste it in here and maybe we can figure out what's wrong.

Are you using a module that forces users to agree to terms of service, or otherwise modifies the account signup form? The indicated failure is here:

The other possibility is that it is choking on the foreign language characters, although I don't think that is the case. I've done deployment with Chinese characters before and it has worked fine.

I also notice that you are using Forum and Organic Groups. I have not tested deploying nodes implementing these features, but I wouldn't be surprised at all to discover they don't work. Just as a warning.

Note that when you disable a module to test compatibility, you should disable it on both the source and destination servers.

What does the Arabic text returned say?

Again, I suspect this is an incompatibility between Deploy and one of the modules you're using which is modifying the user/profile data like Image Attach or OG.

It says 'required field missing' but there are no required fields. I have made some progress..now some users work and some don't

is there a way to skip users/nodes who do not work but complete deployment? most content was created by one or two users and they seem to come through ok.

I don't know for sure yet but it looks like any user with arabic in their profile is rejected. same with arabic nodes...

Hm, I admit I haven't tested internationalization for users, only for nodes. It is possible there is something broken there.

well, it doesn't seem to work with nodes which have arabic content in them.

I edited a node which deployed fine before and entered some arabic text. When I tried to deploy that node I got an error message in arabic which translates to 'a prohibited choice has been detected'.

I finally have this working (sort of).

This has been my experience deploying on an existing site:

- I had to disable image_attach, image_import, date cck, date api and locations. As noted in other tickets, all modules related to users (logintobaggan, commentlogin, termsofuse) need to be disabled
- I had to truncate term_node table. It kept creating duplicate terms and still failed whenever a node had a tag. This is something I can populate through a query later on so no big deal
- I had to set all nodes to uid=1 since it threw a duplicate user error for all other users. I will have to deal with importing users and resetting uid on nodes through mysql queries..this is a bit of a pain and I'm still hoping I can redo deployment with the right users
- I had to first deploy group nodes and then the nodes which belong to a group. It doesn't work any other way.
- I had to set every users language to english. It doesn't seem to support users with other default languages. I ended up setting all nodes to uid=1 so this hack did not matter anyway.

I just stumbled across this comment, after using Deploy for over a year.

You have no idea how much easier this made troubleshooting what Deploy was doing, I can't believe I didn't find it earlier. Even doing all of the searching in the issue queue, for some reason I never found this.
