I did this
created an event and added field_date
created a case type (the casetracker module created the type). Added field_date

1. set them both to the same value but not repeating
result: all items show as expected on the calendar

2. changed one to repeated date
result: nothing shows on the calendar
further field_date in casetracker is set to "unlimited" for the number where before the edit it was one.
Each time I edit the field_date in event type, field_date in casetracker is changed to unlimited.

I can't use the repeat option if it is not adding any items to the calendar.

I have to edit the field_date in casetracker after I edit the field_date in the event as per above

But then I have to edit the calendar field_date in the view and remove "group by" option.

Then the events will show
