Bio:

John Albin Wilkins has been a web developer since the Paleolithic Era. In early 1993, he was introduced to NCSA Mosaic, the first graphical web browser, and spent a few hours browsing the entire web (which only consisted of NCSA’s and CERN’s websites). He was unimpressed. Nonetheless, he had nothing better to do and started building websites.

Since then, John embraced the open culture of the web and started sharing his experience. John has given talks in four continents, speaking on topics like style-guide-driven development, agile, information architecture, CSS, JavaScript, and responsive design. He is also a prolific sharer of free code. Incorporating a CSS/Sass framework, his Zen theme was downloaded over 1,000,000 times. Recently, John has been focused on decoupled websites with frontend JavaScript frameworks communicating with backend CMS systems. His name is also found a couple times in Drupal’s MAINTAINERS.txt and he was the lead of the Drupal 8 Mobile Initiative.

John currently lives with his family in Taiwan, where they occasionally play with Lemurs.

History

I’ve been using Drupal since 2004 when I created my first drupal.org account, and then accidentally locked myself out of it by capitalizing my email address.

Drupal Contributions:

I was the lead for the Drupal 8 Mobile Initiative, one of the top 30 Drupal contributors to Drupal 7 and am listed a few times in Drupal’s MAINTAINERS.txt. I maintain several well-used contrib projects, including the Components, Zen theme, Menu Block, Menu Position, and Fences. I’m also the co-author of Drupal 7 Module Development.

And I’m the winner of the coveted TPOTM (Trivial Patch of the Month).
