HI,
In OA2 - Not sure if this is the right section to place this as the traditional Notebook has been depreciated, but i'm having trouble understanding how to create a book/wiki and display a navigation structure in the sidebar.
For example to record operating procedures? I create a Section page and assume to select default, and then click on ‘create space’ under the space to then get presented with a list of options including the create document/wiki page. This then can be created to a section but no further hierarchy than that, and then I see no way to display a document menu structure in the sidebar?
I notice in the OA documentation site (using OA2) that the book looks to be created using 'content page' not 'document page'? http://products.phase2technology.com/oa-documentation
I've got this far in it....
- Create a section page of type default
- Click the 'create a new space' by clicking on the drop down next to the space title to list the options and create a document page and make sure you tick for it to create a menu item and give it a name manually on the right. (ps I cannot work out why the create content options are under 'create a space' rather than the + (plus) button?)
- To create a navigation structure in the sidebar, customise the page and select 'menus' and 'group menu'
The only problem left is that there seems to be no way to create a structure to the book i.e. this is page 1, this is a subpage of page 1... etc so its not really a book, just a list of posts in order or creation.
Any ideas or should I manipulate the 'document page' content type to make it able to be a book?
Thoroughly confused
Thanks in advance

mpotter commentedWhen you create your Section, be sure to edit the section and enable the Menu Link for it. Select as the Parent for the menu and give it a title (the name of your section).
For the documents, you want to use the "Document Page" option (oa_wiki). The "Content Page" comes from Panopoly and is for non-space and non-section pages (like your site About Us page). When creating your Document Page, enable the Menu Link for it and select the Section that you created as the Parent for the menu, and then give it a menu title.
The menu hierarchy is automatically displayed on Document Pages and any section using the "News" section Type by default. You can add it to other pages using the Customize Page and in the Menus area you'll find the Group Menu widget.

jon pollard commentedMaybe the default install would be more easily understandable if it has dome dummy content - something like the commerce kickstart profile? I've been wrestling with the structure of new content that I've added and it's not very clear what is happening with pages, spaces and menus when there is only one bit of content.
OA1 had a lot more structure out of the box...

OnthegOinOz commentedHi,
So i've tried this on the latest dev and everything is ok except being able to organise Document pages in order of preference rather than by date created.
let me explain.
I create document page 1 and then anther document page with page 1 as the parent. I want page 1 to be the top page in the 'book' menu in the sidebar.
I then create another Document page and it appears at the top of the menu and I see no way to organise the Document pages in another order?
Am I missing something?
THanks in advance

OnthegOinOz commentedExperimenting with this a little further I have found the following needing guidance in order for this to function similar to a 'book'.
1. Navigation menu - utilising the menu items in the customise sidebar, does not allow for a menu that starts on the section page that contains the 'book' rather it reverts to the Space at the top.
2. Creating more than 1 'book' within a single space is showing problems in that I cannot create a Document page that has the Section as the parent, it just reverts back to the original Document.
Am I using this incorrectly? the Sections are being created as a 'default page'?
I'm trying to work out how to get this user friendly or at least understandable : )

mpotter commentedBe sure to add each Section to the Group Menu as well. The menu widget on the document pages are set to automatically start the menu at your current section node, so the section page itself needs to be above all of the content pages within the section. So think of your Section in OA2 as being the "Book" in OA1. Then the document pages in the section are added to the Group Menu as children of the main section menu item.

OnthegOinOz commentedHmm... little confusing. I thought that was what I was doing except for the reference to a Group which has not even come into it?
Still no way to organise a document page other than by the date it was created.

mpotter commented1) Create a Section Page using the "News Section" type, since that turns on the widget to show the section menu automatically.
2) In the Menu Link for the Section page, enable it, select "<Group Menu>" as the parent, and give it a Title (like Documentation)
3) Save/Publish the Section Page
4) The + button should have a "Create Document Page" option. Select that to create a new document.
5) In the Menu Link for the Document page, enable it, select the Section you just created (Documentation) as the parent, and give it a title caption.
6) Save/Publish the Document Page. You should see it display in the menu in the right sidebar region.
repeat 4-6 for additional documents. When choosing the Parent for the menu link you can create a hierarchy of documentation.
If you want to change the order of documents within a specific part of the hierarchy, go back to your Space page, select Config from the "gear" icon menu to the right of the space title. From the Space Config page, select Menu. Then you can drag/drop the items in your space menu into whatever order you want, just like any other menu.
(P.S. It is called the <Group Menu> because it's coming from an Organic Groups module. Has nothing to do with Spaces vs Groups in OA2. It's technically the Space-specific Menu)
(P.P.S Only set issues to "Needs Review" status if it contains a patch)

OnthegOinOz commentedHi Mike,
Sorry to comeback to this but I followed your guide and it is not working for me as per the steps.
Step2. "" is not an option to have as a parent menu. I would obviously want the 'book' available as a link on the space main page so I make the parent the section, the main menu.
Step 5. There is no option to select the parent menu of the news section just created.the only logical option is to select 'group menu'.
Outcome: I can see no menu automatically appearing in the right sidebar and not clear on how to set up the menu for a 'book'
Outcome: Regarding going back to the main space, clicking the cog, config, menu, to rearrange the 'book' it me me think that unless a user has permission to both edit within the section AND edit the Space they will not have access to this. second to this lets say the Space has 3 books for example operational manuals for a organisation, and they have mutipe sections and pages and content. Its going to e an awful hassle to firstly insert a new page anywhere in the book because each time you have to create the page and then go back to the main space (if you have permission) and secondly then find the page in amongst the entire space.
Appreciate any further feedback and guidance.
Thanks

mpotter commentedThe editor had eaten the < and > symbols so I have edited my post about. So step 2 should make more sense now.
OnthegOinOz commentedOk. So I got that working thanks for the clarification.
I am gathering by the 'closed' there is no room for looking at the need to go back to the Space i.e. below and ALSO is there generally any intention to develop this into an actual 'notebook' type feature that could for instance print out the notebook and menu structure?

thibaut51 commentedHi,
I followed Mike's method described in post #11. This works fine.
My only concern is that the title given in step 2) is showing under the hierachical breadcrumb navigator.
I don't want this to append so I tried to configure the dedicated mini-pannel. But I can't figure it out.
So here is my question : how to make the Section OG menu title not showing under the breadcrumb navigator ?

altbzh1 commentedHi,
question from a newbie ...
Why can't we use the Drupal's book type of content ?
Thank you

orbrob commentedMikes instructions from comment 11 worked for me, with the exception that it still put the sections menu link as a secondary menu at the top. I had to go to /admin/structure/menu/manage/og-menu-single/edit and "disable" the section menus. This prevents them from showing up in the top menu but still displays the right side menu. It's also worth noting, the menu wont display on the right side until you put at least one document in the new sections menu tree.

owntheweb commentedInstructions found here helped out greatly, after futzing with Atrium 2 on my own for a while with some stuck points.
While this may be redundant from a developer perspective, I recommend making the following additions to Atrium 2 for its users:

Chipie commentedI have followed the instructions in #11.
I get the menu with the document pages in the left sidebar, but they appear as folders and I can't click them:
Any ideas?
