The new i18n module i18n_field takes care of translating the labels of allowed_values of fields and other field properties.
Normally the translations are loaded automatically but since the "Add to cart form" integrates some special logic to create nice variation selectors we have to call i18n_field ourselves to fetch the translated labels.

The attached patch checks if the module is installed and takes the necessary actions to get the translations.
If the module isn't available the behaviour is unchanged.
