Hi,

Call me dense, but I can't for the life of me sort out how to get this module working. In particular, I'd love to see a step-by-step tutorial that replicates the cgcginc.com menus. I think a lot of us would. the documentation link is no longer working and I'd really like to see how this works. I've read that you used a pager of titles to simulate the menus, but i just don't follow. I'm trying for something similar based on a taxonomy, but all I end up with is a repetition of the taxonomy term associated to the images i want in the slideshow.

Any guidance would be appreciated!

Hi jbenjamin,

As we are preparing a new documenation for OM Maximenu, meanwhile please follow these steps.

1. Learn Views Slide Show which is available for D6 and D7 - http://drupal.org/project/views_slideshow
There's a great documentation for views_slideshow and video tutorial at youtube.
- basically you need to make a slideshow that only reacts when the pager (which in cgcginc.com the page is string instead of 1,2,3,N...) is hover.

2. Download, Install, and Enable OM Maximenu (Please refer to drupal documentation how to intall modules)

3. OM MAXIMENU PROPER

  1. goto: http:///#overlay=admin/structure/om-maximenu or at top admin-menu click Structure->Om Maximenu
  2. click New Menu
  3. at Menu Title, replace it with your menu name e.i. "MyMenu"
  4. dont touch anything go further down that says "MENU LINKS (0)" and click
  5. you will be given 5 NEW LINK, as long as you haven't edit any of them it will not be part of your menu item.
  6. Click first NEW LINK and edit Link title let say we put "About Us"
  7. Click Save farther down.
  8. You will be in the new screen with MyMenu with 1 link..
  9. Farther right you can see Edit and click to edit this OM Menu you created again.
  10. Go to MENU LINKS (1) like in step 4, then you can see that we have "About Us" as first link.
  11. Farther Right you can see "Edit attached blocks.", then click.
  12. A new pane will appear with the list of available blocks that can be attached. Find the views slide show that you created and you can tick/check the enable checkbox and click Save at the bottom.
  13. Then you will return to your original pane, to finalize please click Save at the bottom of the pane.
  14. Finally go to http:///#overlay=admin/structure/block or click Structure->Blocks and assigned the generated Om-Maximenu Block to region you want. You may refer drupal documentation how to assign a block to region.

Let us know if we missed something or it's not clear with you. Thank you very much for your patience waiting for the new OM Maximenu documentation as this is still not yet available.

Thanks acausing for the step by step guide.

I have almost recreated the menu from cgcginc.com, but could not follow how to to replace pager number to Node title (string).

Any ideas?

Thanks

Yeah, I wouldn't mind a tutorial as well (D6).

Trying to figure out how to make the proper "child" items.

I guess you need to create that with views and add them as blocks.

Still, seems easier (to me, lol) if child items could be created and then attach blocks.

Looking for something like the northerly example provided. I see they use views slide show for that.

Time for advil, lol.

I have to do something like this.

http://www.danielhonrade.com/

This is one of the example for scroller.

Now I created the links.
But i dot want to display the block in dropdown, I am going to select the "Tab with vertical scroll".

How can i give the path to a content of a block say "block1" and having the id="block-id"
The same block is placed in the page where the menu is placed.

hello,
is there a way to add a node as an attachment block to a menu link? In my maximenu when I choose : edit attached blocks > node (0 of 2) > there are only two options available : SYNDICATE and RECENT CONTENT. Is it possible to select one or more nodes to display in the dropdown menu? I'm not sure if I should create a new issue topic for this question.
Thank you

Hi konstantinalz,

You can create a views block and retrieved the nodes you want and its fields that you need to show (this block should be attached to your menu-item), also it is good to enable cache to this views-block if its not frequently changing.

Regards,
Albert

Thank you acausing, this was very helpful.

hello acausing,

I followed your advise by creating a view and attaching it into the menu. It's all working fine, but I wonder if it is possible to change the way the fields are displayed in the dropdown menu. My view contains titles of 4 pages, but the font of the title is too big, so are the borders of the dropdown box.
I tried to fixed it in the css of om_maximenu but I can't find the right variables. I could only change the width of the dropdown menu.
So, I edit my view and choose as format : Unformatted list and uncheck the two boxes in the settings of "Unformatted list". The titles have no longer distance between them, but in the menu there is no difference.
Have you ever tried this before?

Thank you,
konstantina

As lots of others I'm trying to figure out how this module might work and what it actually could do. However, so far I miserably failed to build a proper Megamenu, like - for example - Ubermenu for Wordpress.

By following #1 I just get a horizontal list of menu items; to each menu item, I can attach a block on block that pop ups in a bubble. That's quite nice, but it doesn't make a Megamenu like it is used, for example, at imdb.com. Megamenus have different level and display various types of content. Maybe with 'OM Maximenu' something like this would require multiple 'OM Maximenu' blocks stacked side by side?

I don't know, but when I try to get something to drop down vertically, I do not even get one dropdown. 'OM Maximenu' with block option "Stacking: Column" (instead of row) just renders a static list of menu items. After playing with the module for a couple of hours, I'm still far away from anything usable. The numerous options are totally coun Actually I don't understand what this option does at all.

Without any documentation, screenshots, or a working demo site, this module is so excessively time consuming, that it hardly makes sense to guess if it might solve an actual problem or just goes into a completely different direction. Even evaluating if it works and how it's features are to be used might take days.

It's a real pity since, from what I've seen so far, 'OM Maximenu' seems to be the technically the most robust maximenu module available for Drupal. Especially it seems to be the only one that plays nicely with Views blocks, Ajax, and exposed filters. Too bad I'm too stupid to use it.

I am in agreement with asb. I've inherited a site that uses OM Maximenu, but find myself unable to do much in the way of modifying the way blocks are laid out with the menu. I want the set side by side, as I see in examples, but they stack vertically. I imagine minor changes to the CSS would fix this, but I have my attempts to do this have failed. Is there any documentation that is even partly written that could be made available?

I found that om_maximenu-6.x-1.44 can't attach block,but om_maximenu-6.x-1.43 works.
