Is anyone looking at implementing AtomPub (rfc5023) as an alternative to XMLRPC?

Windows Live Writer supports AtomPub and that might be a better way to implement WLW support for other content types besides 'blog'. Evidently WordPress is supporting AtomPub; maybe we could use their code as a base?

FYI there's also a mac product that supports the protocol called MarsEdit.
