I wonder if any plan for field api and views integration apart from the other future plans:
Add support for multiple transitions.
Add user upload for adding/replacing images.
Add support for more images to be contained within the slider.

If I may make a suggestion, how about looking at Views Slideshow, FlexSlider, and the cool FlexSlider Views Slideshow integration module that integrates the two?

You can let Views Slideshow do what it already does best (doing the heavy lifting of working with Views), then make an integration module similar to FlexSlider Views Slideshow that adds a “FluxSlider” Slideshow Type in the Views Slideshow settings, just as the FlexSlider Views Slideshow currently does with FlexSlider.

I have been thinking about integration with Views on this although I do have some concerns.

If there are multiple versions of the Flex-Slider slideshow running on the same page then it can bring the browser crawling to a halt. During testing when I was initially building this module it was typical that i would have quite a few browser tabs in the background that had the Flux-Slider running; this is when i realised the strain it would put on low-mid powered machines to run multiple versions.

So it is a concern, should we supply the rope for developers to hang themselves?

As I said, I do plan on integrating it with Views at some point, although not too sure when that will be.
