Hi again

Yesterday I was able to add Views to Sections using the Panopoly interface via "Customize this page" and "Add content to Content", including default OA views and new custom ones.

It was great to really see the functionality of OA starting to work - it performed beautifully and I was able to build out some really cool stuff.

Today though I can't seem to add any View (default or otherwise) to any Section.

Even re-adding existing views (which continue to work fine if previously added) crashes the thing (screenshot attached).

Views work fine in the preview for editing the Views, and in the preview pane for adding content via the Panopoly interface.

So the glitch seems to be in the concluding phase of the adding process using the Panopoly interface, rather than in selecting or previewing the view or the functioning or permissions associated with the View or the Section.

Any thoughts or advice appreciated.

I found a work-around.

The problem seemed to be associated with the 'Open Atrium' Category Name, found in the Pane Settings for the View (screenshot attached).

I created a new Category Name by editing the Pane Settings for the existing Views I wanted to use.

Going back to select Customize This Page, I was then able to add Views to Sections as I was able before.

Its probably good practice to make use of these Category Names for customized views anyway, so hopefully this sorts things out nicely.

I have to say when I can get OA to work without breaking it - it totally rocks.

This works as designed. The "Open Atrium" category for the View causes Panels to put the widget into the "Open Atrium" category, rather than the generic "Views Panes" category.

On an entirely new instal of OpenAtrium the exact same problem is occurring again. Adding views just locks the thing up, and tinkering with things like the category name and the fields displayed in the view make no difference.

Update -> ok folks - this time the work-around was to:

  1. Make the desired changes to the View;
  2. change the view category name (I'm still unclear on why this works - so maybe try step 3 and skip this step);
  3. flush all caches;
  4. proceed to 'Customise this page' and add the view; and
  5. cross fingers.

Another mystery is why new views (and new 'custom' view categories) appear in the panopoly 'add content' interface for the same (admin) user in some parts of the site but not others. That will be another challenge to solve.

Errors like this when adding views, and the perennial problems associated with the 'Groups Audience' field triggering entity wrapper errors, seem to be the most persistent an annoying 'fragilities' in working with Open Atrium. They may be difficult to reproduce on a clean instal free from content, but they are right in your face the moment you start adding content and customising very basic features like adding or changing fields for content types. As soon as I can pin down exactly what triggers these I will repost them so other novice users may benefit from/avoid the pain.

Closing this as I expect this cannot be reproduced with a clean instal.
