This is a *new* issue to update media_youtube because it causes a fatal error due to a call to media_access(). This is broken in the version of media_youtube currently packaged with Panopoly 1.1 but fixed in the latest dev of media_youtube. I'm using it successfully with
Panopoly 1.1
Media 7.x-2.0-alpha3+38-dev
#1823376: media_access() is deceprated and will be removed

dsnopekWe haven't gotten Panopoly to Media 7.x-2.0-alpha3+38-dev yet - but we're working on it here:
#2171121: Update Media to at least 7.x-2.0-alpha3+37-dev for PSA-2014-001
For now, we're still stuck on 7.x-2.0-alpha3+12-dev. There will likely be code/config changes to get Panopoly working with newer versions, so I don't recommend upgrading at this point unless you're willing to make those changes yourself - or ideally, help get those changes made in Panopoly. ;-)
Thanks for letting us know about the need for the media_youtube update! I'm going to copy some of your information here to the other issue.

ergophobe commentedThat is so odd - I saw that issue and thought I double-checked that Panopoly 1.1 had updated Media. I must have been in the wrong directory or on the wrong branch.
So apologies for that.
FYI - I'm on 7.x-2.0-alpha3+38-dev with no issues. If you go beyond that, you lose the edit button and all sorts of other bad things happen, as I'm sure you're aware from following the Media issue queue.
