I have created a module that provides extra layouts for Display Suite... creatively named "DS Extra Layouts" https://drupal.org/sandbox/jeremyr/2224061

Before submitting for full project status I would like to present this module here in case there were any plans to include similiar layouts in future version of Display Suite. If not, I'll proceed as planned for extra layout-y goodness for all. Thanks!

Hmm I don't see the point of providing more layout in a seperate module as most layouts are project specific anyway. To many layouts also make the dropdown ugly. Anyways I won't stop you creating a full project if it could help new users.
