Sadly, BotDetect PHP library is not really compatible with PHP 8.x and generates a lot of deprecation warnings and errors that makes this module mostly unusable.
Let's hope BotDetect will release a PHP 8.x compatible version of its library one day (doesn't seem likely though, it looks like a dead project to me).
Until then we will have to use another Captcha generator library.
Warning:
If you are note afraid of massive deprecation errors in your logs, this module runs on PHP 8.1 and PHP 8.3, so you can give it a try.
Beware that a serialization bug requires recent versions of PHP 8.x: ^8.1.25 || ^8.2.12 || ^8.3
