Images attached to other content types

Images attached to another content type (ie: a page or a story- as with the traditional use of an attached image being the thumbnail in the top right corner of the story), can we have this as part of this integration? Its great to see it working on the image node itself, however I hardly ever use the image node for anything... in fact I use ImageCache for galleries, since I can do more effective image manipulation and watermarking etc with the imagecache extensions. (And that will be the next request... working on image fields :) )

Also from a technical point of view (I'm just starting a computer science degree) I would be interested in a slightly technical breakdown of how this module will hook into a node to provide colorbox functionality. Although if time is an issue then I would rather have the functionality than a description of how it would have worked if you had time to do it :)

I'd very much like to understand this side of Drupal...
