The user module creates a link "My account" to /user in the account menu.
This module lets you override the "My account" link with custom text, or the username.
IE "Account", "User", or "user123".

How does this help?
The default link can be disabled and a new one created with the label you want. But since menu links are content entities, it won't export to config. This is the easiest way to set the user's name as the account link.
This module makes things a little more convenient for sitebuilders.
