Importing in Date field

I have installed the Date module and using it successfully in a number of content types.

Is there a way of importing an excel spreadsheet (saved as a Tab Delimited file) that contains a column with dates?

I have Feeds Importer installed and all columns in the tab delimited file import successfully except for the date column.

If I manually amend the Date field it's great, but I can't seem to use Feeds Importer.
