Decorative Images

The Decorative Images module provides an option to mark images as decorative, displayed with a "presentation" role for assistive technologies. The option can be enabled or disabled per-field, allowing content editors to specify the role of an image where used. It provides a second option to make decorative or alternative text required.

Accessibility

Decorative images may not add meaningful content and may be ignored by screen readers. The module can help content authors follow best practices by marking such images properly to avoid audible clutter. For more details, see the W3C guidelines on decorative images.

Installation & Usage

• Install and enable the module.
• Navigate to Manage Form Display for a given entity image field.
• Enable "Decorative image" in the field widget.
• Edit an image and check Decorative to set the decorative role.
