It would be great to have a scheduler in core for drupal 8, for creating a content piece in the future.

"Node" is not an active project...

Based on #764558: Remove Trigger module from core, this issue will not be fixed since Trigger has been removed from D8. I'd suggest the Rules module, since the D8 contrib version of trigger is likely to be maintenance only.

Title: Scheduler? » Add ability to schedule content
Version: 7.x-dev » 8.x-dev
Component: trigger.module » node.module
Status: Closed (won't fix) » Active

This still seems like a valid feature request for D8 and node module.

Just noticing the comments here, I was suggested to put this under 'node", but I wasn't really sure.

How would we go about requesting this for d8?

I know that many content creators would really rely on this feature being more easily accessible on the sites.

Title: Add ability to schedule content » Add ability to schedule actions
Component: node.module » action.module
Status: Active » Postponed

'Publish an entity' could be an action, so refocusing and postponing for #1823570: Convert Actions to Plugins and #1788104: Convert actions to plugin sub-system. See also #1823574: [Meta] Improve the Views Bulk Operations (VBOs) that are in core.

Marking #410656: Job scheduler as a duplicate.

There are two contrib projects with this type of functionality, Job Scheduler and Rules Scheduler. The latter is also used for simple queuing when executing actions immediately (tied to the initiating page request) is undesirable. An example of this is when a user's flagging or entity creation triggers one or more emails (relatively slow reactions), and by running these actions in the background, the user wouldn't have to wait to continue to the following page view.

I think I saw something about chx looking to rewrite Queue API, but I can't remember where. It would probably show up in 8.x issues mentioning 'queue'.

Actions development met that milestone. Also, #1743686: Condition Plugin System and #1896076: Contextual Plugins and supporting code have contributed toward #1846172: Replace the actions API, which has a sandbox.

This issue is over 9 years old without an update so most likely not be a highly requested feature. I believe there are projects in the contrib space that will do most of the tasks needed here.
