GeoServer

This module connects Drupal with GeoServer, a popular open source server for sharing and editing geospatial data. Layers, styles and access rules are managed in Drupal and kept in sync with GeoServer through its REST API, and GeoServer layers can be shown on Leaflet maps.

The 2.0.x branch is a rewrite for Drupal 11.4 and later and requires GeoServer 3.0.2 or later. The 7.x-1.x branch supports Drupal 7 with GeoServer 2.2.4 and above. See #3590500 for the background of the port.

Features

• Administer GeoServer layers and styles (SLD) from within Drupal, as exportable configuration.
• Create the GeoServer workspace and PostGIS datastore automatically and publish existing PostGIS tables and views.
• Per-layer permissions (read layer, write layer) that are written to GeoServer as data security rules, so GeoServer refuses what Drupal refuses.
• Per-user access through OpenID Connect: Drupal is the identity provider (Simple OAuth), GeoServer reads the user's roles from the token.
• GeoWebCache tile cache truncation for the changed area when content with a Geofield is saved or deleted.
• Drush commands to synchronize everything, check the status and set up OpenID Connect.
• The service account is kept in settings.php or the Key module, never in configuration.

Submodules

• GeoServer Importer: publishes vector files (zipped Shapefile, GeoPackage) uploaded to a file field through the GeoServer REST Importer, in a queue.
• GeoServer Raster: publishes GeoTIFF and Cloud Optimized GeoTIFF files of any size. Files are uploaded in chunks with File Resumable Upload and read by GeoServer from a shared directory, without sending them over HTTP.
• GeoServer Leaflet: shows GeoServer layers as WMS, GeoWebCache (WMTS) tiles or WFS features on Leaflet maps, with a map block and a Leaflet map definition for field formatters and Views.

Requirements (2.0.x)

• Drupal 11.4 or later, PHP 8.3 or later.
• GeoServer 3.0.2 or later. The OpenID Connect integration needs the GeoServer sec-oidc extension, the importer submodule needs the importer extension.
• Geofield, Leaflet and File Resumable Upload.
• Optional: Simple OAuth for OpenID Connect, Key for the service account.
