I received a new comment notification for https://groups.drupal.org/node/458673#comment-1135078, which is a part of the Beijing group, which I do not subscribe to. In the past, I've also received notifications from Drupal Boston.

The only development done on groups.drupal.org is to replace it. The plan seems to migrate it into drupal.org, as described in #2590497: [meta] Proposal to migrate groups into Drupal.org.
