image uplaod

Good day,

This probably may have been answered however i am unable to find the answer i need. I am using cpanel and on their server have uploaded images to an image file that is on the main directory i have and not under public files. Now i insert images and and change the setting to html full as that is the only way in which it chooses to display the images. However i asked a friend to have a look on their side not on my pc and they spoke of how the images would not display basically showing broken links. I am not a professional coder however have been working with drupal and this would be an issue i face. I would like some insight into inserting galleries as well, i have followed the steps went through the video tutorials and must say I have an issue with embedding the gallery correctly.
