Maintenance Windows allows you to schedule times during which your site can be automatically placed into maintenance mode or, if the Read-only Mode module is installed, into Read-only mode, the intent of this is to be able to support infrastructure or integrated system maintenance that may be disruptive to your site's operation, but will take place during a defined time period that may make it inconvenient for the site administrators to manually enable and disable maintenance mode.
Features
Provides an interface to schedule one or more maintenance windows, providing start times, end times, message to display to the users, and if needed the option to select the read-only module instead of the core maintenance mode as the item to be enabled.
It provides a hook_cron implementation that when triggered will enable, disable, or cleanup the scheduled maintenance modes.
Maintenance windows can also be manually started or ended via the interface as well.
Post-Installation
Once this is installed, you can navigate to Configuration -> Development -> Maintenance Windows to start scheduling your windows.
Recommended modules/libraries
The Read Only Mode module is supported by this module as an alternative to using maintenance mode.
