The "Media Image Metadata" module provides the same functionality, but also supports the IPTC and XMP standards.
This module provides EXIF-metadata extraction and handling to be used with Media in core (> 8.4.0).
Initially, this is a straight port of what Media Entity Image had in contrib, and was removed when that module was moved into Drupal core.
Sites with Media Entity 1.x that relied on EXIF metadata extraction and want to upgrade to media-in-core will need this module, as well as new sites that want to use EXIF with media in core image media types.
