The project features are now available at the Node Revision Delete module.

The Node Revision Restrict module allows you to restrict revisions of node for each content type. This module has an admin interface to specify node revision threshold for each content type available. The possible setting include node type with corresponding revision limit, provided on the Node Revision Restrict configuration form. Note that this module does not and cannot delete the current revisions of a node.

The Node Revision Restrict module can help cleaning the node revision table from database reducing the database size, enhancing site performance and improving execution time of node load functionality.

This module is compatible with Workbench Moderation module.

Uses

Configuring content types

To specify the node revision threshold for each content type, visit the Node Revision Restrict page (admin/config/content/node_revision_restrict). For this you need the Administer Node Revision Restrict permission.

Deleting revisions

Each time that a node is edited, if his content type it is configured to use this module the revisions will be restricted to the limit configured for him.

Further development

If you read the Similar Projects section in the Node Revision Delete module you will see that at this moment there are 10 modules that works with the Cleanup of Revisions:

We don't need all these modules to clean revisions when we can have only one, is more easy to maintain and we can concentrate efforts, the only module that is being migrated to Drupal 8 is #2866825: [node_revision_delete] Node Revision Delete and at the same time the new features are backported to the 7.x-3.x version. So, we recommend you to use the Node Revision Delete module.
