Paragraphs Asymmetric Translation Widgets

This module provides asymmetric translations for Paragraphs

To enable the functionality for the stable widget for paragraphs simple install this module.

To enable the functionality for the old legacy widget for paragraphs:

1. Install the module
2. Navigate to the Paragraphs field on the entity type where you want to enable it ("Manage fields")
3. Enable "Users may translate this field". Note that the Paragraphs module has a big red warning that translations won't work, but it will with this module.
4. Navigate to the form mode settings for the Paragraphs field on this entity type ("Manage form display") and choose the "Paragraphs Legacy Asymmetric" widget or "Paragraphs (stable)" widget.

Compatibility with Paragraphs module

Future Paragraphs versions might not work immediately; we will continue to support them, but it might take us some time.

Import notes:

When switching from the normal Paragraphs widgets to the asymmetric widget, you might encounter data loss. It is advised not to do this unless you are willing to manually rebuild your content.

History

The module is a result of the discussions in these issues of the Paragraphs module:

• Support asymmetric translations
• Support asymmetric translation in experimental widget

The module was created after the suggestion/advice of the paragraph's maintainers which you can read here (comment 12534509).
tldr: The Paragraphs maintainers decided that asymmetric translations will not be supported through the Classic widget, but there is ongoing work to support it through the Experimental widget. However, since a patch was already pending for the Classical widget, following the advice of the maintainers I created this separate project, because I had already used the patch to a project and I still need this functionality.
