I am hoping to have the ability to map the social content to custom entities, instead of Nodes. This would keep the Content listing clear of social posts, as well remove things like URL, Menu and other node specific items from being stored with the social post in the db.

This was previously discussed in #2275417: Support for Insights/performance-stats, entity-types and nosql storage. (please read that issue as there's a bit of background on the project).

Support for custom entity types might have to be a new major version (possibly d8? #2680053: Drupal 8 version) As I believe there's quite a lot of code that currently relies on the node content types existing.
