Default way finding widget

Powerful tool to create way finding widgets on any Drupal site with lots of intriguing features. The idea behind this: a Drupal site may already have content types or other entities, representing destinations (e.g. building in an areal or shops in a mall) as well as business or user profiles, that are located in those destinations. Linking all those content entities together with the way finding module, dynamically generates widgets that help your visitors to quickly find their way.

Those widgets adopt themselves automatically to the environment, whether that's your website in a browser, a mobile app decoupled from your Drupal CMS or a big outdoor display connected to Drupal with the Digital Signage Framework.

Feature highlights

  • Every content entity type of your website can be defined as either source or destination
  • Entity edit forms automatically get extra fields for way finding configuration if they belong to either a destination or source entity type
  • The displayed graphic for the widget can either be a specially crafted SVG file with highlighted elements identified with IDs or multiple graphics for each highlighted object which gets hidden or displayed depending on what's selected
  • The legends to list all available sources get defined with Drupal core's view module and there is no limitation on how many different legends you want to provide
  • Additional descriptions (e.g. business profiles) can be displayed for selected items in the legend
  • If geo location of sources and destinations are being made available, a QR code can be generated with routing information on how to get from your current location to the destination (currently using Google Maps API)
  • If the way finding widget is being used on outdoor displays, their perspective (compass direction) may be relevant - and the way finding widgets are supporting that by allowing you to manage a different background graphics for each of the required perspectives

This is a lot, and we may even have forgotten something that may be important to yourself. Please let us know in the issue queue or get in touch with the maintainers though their user profiles here on drupal.org
