Calling new user method of module

Simple question. When a new user is created, I would like a method/function to be called from a module. OR, just to get a method/function called. What would I call the method in my module or where could I add code to be called when a new user is created?

I want to create some entries in some tables when a new user is created and other tasks performed on that "new account". I need this code called regardless if the user was added from an admin setup or a new user registering themselves.

Thanks.

Customized Drupal for Blog

I love drupal particularly the elegant in the source code and the sensible modularization and coupling of the php files. I have been recommending it to people for variety of CMS.

But as a blogging tool, drupal is definately an overkill with its feature. It is also pretty daunting for a typical blogger (who probably dont even know what's PHP) to stripe it down and then customized it as a blogging tool. (Dont laugh..I spend nearly whole day to figure out how to set permissions and post stories and that is after reading the source code :P)

In the "ease-of-use" category, MT definately wins hands down for non-technical blogging community.

So I am wondering if there is any fork of drupal which customized such that "ready-to-go" for a blogger which I can recommend for other bloggers. If there is none, would you be interested to work with me on such a project?

The project would involve taking drupal, stripe it down to the core which only modules that a typical blogger need, then provide some templates that is designed for blogging (instead as a generic CMS).

We probably also need to provide some modules so users can do templating without having the horror of understanding PHP and other common functionilty.

Drop me an email at jseng_at_pobox.org.sg if you are interested,

ps; Yes, my blog still runs MT. I thin

Question regarding a Drupal feature

Hi, I am very new to Durpal, sorry if the question sounds silly. :)

In this page: http://drupal.org/project/article

I saw that next to the "submitted by" information, it have a link to "Contributed modules"

Is this a feature of Durpal? How can I create different categories for the post like this?

Regards,
Angus
P.S. Sorry, English is not my first language

google adsense

Is banner module the only way of adding google adsense ads to a block?
I created a new block and added the javascript code but it displays nothing.
Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks

node_import not working

Anybody using or have used node_import with 4.4.0 successfully.
I downloaded yesterday and added to my modules list however there is no option to config anything. Also when you click on the import node link added to the navigation you get a Page not Found error.

Any help will be appreciated.

Simple question to all Drupal-on-PostgreSQL users

Are you having the same 'case sensitivity' problem with user names as I am?
(i.e. you have to spell your user name in the exact same case as you registered it, otherwise it's not recognised.)

I first posted the question 4 days ago in the Development forum but got no answers. Maybe I'm really the only one.

(Apologies if I post in the wrong forum. Often I don't know if my tinkering with code is suitable for 'support' or 'development')
