Bio: 

Lauren is the first Senior AI/ML Program Manager for the State of Maryland. In this role, she helps state agencies responsibly and productively adopt GenAI tools to solve problems faced by their staff and constituents. Prior to joining AI Enablement, Lauren co-led product on the founding Digital Service team at Maryland’s Department of Labor, where she translated the State’s Time to Care Act into technical requirements to build Maryland’s first Paid Family and Medical Leave Program.

Lauren's first book, Designing Data Governance from the Ground Up, was published by The Pragmatic Programmers and adapted into two LinkedIn Learning courses. She also wrote an essay for the book 97 Things Every Application Security Professional Should Know, published by O'Reilly Media.

An advocate of open access publishing, Lauren serves as a founding editor of Springer's AI and Ethics journal, the first multidisciplinary journal on this subject. She is also a former area editor for the open access Data and Policy journal with Cambridge University Press. Lauren has spoken at open source events including DrupalCon North America, Drupal Camp Asheville, DrupalGovCon, and GitHub Universe.
