Ricardo Amaro (ricardoamaro)

Ricardo holds a PhD in Science and Technology and is a Senior Engineering Manager, focusing on delivery performance, Drupal, and DevOps/SRE. Currently living in Lisbon, Portugal, and working for Acquia. He is a member of the Drupal Association for several years and President of ADP - Associação Drupal Portugal (Portuguese Drupal Association) where he supports the community, organizes Camps, Meetups and DrupalDevDays in the north and center of Portugal. He is inspired by the Drupal and OpenSource/FreeSoftware community, and it's power to change the world.

He had his first contact with open technologies with Linux back in the 90’s. Likewise, he is also an expert in various tools like Linux, Drupal, Docker, LXC, Solr, Varnish...

In Portugal, he worked both in the public sector and in the private sector, applying Agile techniques and encouraging the DevOps culture. He managed teams, development projects and operations also in South Africa, Germany and the United States. He is passionate about Software Freedom Rights and is a frequent speaker/trainer at IT events.

Ricardo is co-author of the book "Seeking SRE", addressing the use of Machine Learning for SRE, published by O'REILLY in 2018. His published scientific articles include:
