seanbfuller commentedEvent module probably needs to have a full release and I have to work off that before I can really get too far into it. At this time, I can't give an estimation on when this will happen, but I'm going to try and have an initial dev version after this weekend.

seanbfuller commentedWell, I had to quit half-way through working on this over the weekend. Will try to work a bit more on it after work over the next few days. Next weekend at the latest. Sorry for the delay.

seanbfuller commentedI think before we get this to d6 we might want to get the major bug in http://drupal.org/node/247663 resolved for d5. I'm a bit worried about trying to move forward with a broken module. I'm also hoping to get to this a bit over the weekend.
There's also the issue that this module is just very complex and difficult to test. I really like the direction KarenS has been taking with date (see http://drupal.org/node/177108)
thomas23@drupal.org commentedinterested in a port, too. Thanks for keeping us updated.
Ryan Palmer commentedSean, I agree with your comment regarding #247663: Events using "Interval" advanced feature are appearing one day early. I would like to lend a hand when the time comes to upgrade, though.

thomas23@drupal.org commentedHi.
Since it's been over a month since the last "update" has anything changed? Eventhough I see #247663: Events using "Interval" advanced feature are appearing one day early hasn't been fixed, yet. I could need this module for a site I'm putting together that only uses one or two simple periodic events. And since I don't know much php at all it would really help to have at least a version that runs on D6 for the very basic stuff. Could anyone please be so nice an comment on this?
Cheers.

seanbfuller commentedNow that http://drupal.org/node/247663 seems to have been resolved (at least no one has complained about it), I think we can move on to d6. I don't think I'll have time this weekend to work on it, but hopefully over the next few weeks. Patches are welcome.

I am sure you're busy and what have you, but I would like to see about bumping this issue since it has been a week or so since the last person subscribed and now that I have resolved my event issues on our site as well as the tokens it created with pathauto, I am ready to start event-repeating. Bad pun, but you know, just interested in where this module stands for D6. Thanks!

georgedamonkey commentedI am also eagerly anticipating a version for Drupal 6. Would it help if you had a ChipIn setup for it?
http://www.chipin.com
I don't have much I can contribute myself, but I have 3 sites I really need this module for. Even though I can't chip in much, I'll do what I can and maybe others could as well. If that would help to get this module finished sooner. Or at least a version that works with Drupal 6.
seanbfuller commentedJust wanted to give everyone an update. I've recently changed jobs, and I'm currently trying to evaluate how much time I can devote to this. Again, apologies for delays in getting this module upgraded.
Additionally, I've moved over to using date/calendar for events in my development work, as it seems to be a more modular solution for what I need. If anyone is willing to take over maintaining this, please contact me.

vm commentedThere is an event repeat api built into the date.module. I highly suggest that those who want this feature. Switch over to using an Event content type with calendar and date modules. The developer of this module himself has switched to the more modular approach. It works well.
rmiddle commentedOK. I just took over this modules and am working though the issue queue to get a feel for were the project is right now. I will be opening a Drupal 6 branch shortly. If anyone wants to help I will accept it.
Thanks
Robert
Comment #45
rmiddle commentedOk. Update on this. Looking over the queue It looks like there is a nasty logic problem in both 5.1 and 5.2 for now I am going to copy that to 6.1 and get a testing version out there then look for this logic issue that are all over the issue queue. I hope to have a testing version in the next week post on the front page.
Thanks
Robert

rmiddle commentedI am working on it as time permits. It isn't a simple upgrade since the version 5 module is very depend on num_rows fuction and that was removed from drupal 6 so it is almost a complete rewrite of the module. I would say I am around 1/3 done with the port.
Thanks

rmiddle commentedTorenware,
I am keep the latest version in head. Right now I an tiring to get a working version of 6 done. The code was hit by a double whammy in that num_of_rows was removed from drupal 6 and Events changed it timezone handling that eventreport 5.x makes use of.
Everyone,
I have been hip deep in a non Drupal upgrade. I haven't had much time to work on this project over the last few months. I am working on it some this weekend. This is far from a simple upgrade hopefully I will have a version people can start testing on soon.
Note the version is head does not upgrade from 5. There is no upgrade code in it at all.
Thanks
Robert

seanbfuller commentedHey styledata,
Please note that rmiddle has very graciously taken over maintenance of this module. See his note in #86 above. I can definitely second his assessment that this upgrade is no small feat. Those who want to see this module upgraded and are looking to help rmiddle out should reach out to him or start creating patches.

TrevorG commentedSean, I appreciate the response, but this has been in development since March of last year. I am certainly not one to complain about free services provided by others. I understand the difficulty in custom coding which is why I don't want to start coding custom modules. However, I believe it is fair to say that if you start a project for the community, free or not, there is a responsibility to see it to completion when so many are depending on you. If its a money issue, just start a chip in or something. Just please know that there are many who eagerly await the completion of this so we can move to D6 or incorporate. In my case, I have a website for a non-profit that I have donated and literally I cannot move it to d6 because we are waiting on this module. I don't know what to say other than we have been very patient and if there was anything I could do to move it along we would! I would personally chip in an amount if it meant it would get done quicker. Again, I don't want you to think I am ingrateful, in fact I find it to be a pivotal module for events. Its just that it has been a LONG time in the making.
hba commentedTrevorG: Have you considered moving to Date/Calendar? It supports (repeating) events. Please share your experiences if you try it out.

gregarios commentedI prefer the event module, with its other add-on modules. I don't believe the solution to this issue is to aim people at a different module, just like pointing people to new houses is not the solution to someone being robbed.

silverhosting commentedany eta?
thanks a lot for your hard work!
vm commentedWell, yea .... but in the event that someone needs a "tie me over solution" in the interim, the calendar date cck views combination does indeed work nicely. The thread was started in March of 2008 and hasn't produced a patch.
Another benefit in using cck, calendar, date, and views is that they will certainly be moving to D7 which isn't very far off by my estimation. D7 will also include cck and fields in core. That may make things easier or may make things more difficult for a port of this module.
If someone is working on a project now or considering an idea for a project where this type of system is needed ... Those individulas would certainly be better off building with the 4 module combination to accomplish their goals based on the lack of traction and patches in this issue.
Dan Silver commentedok, how about we just make our own patches and post them here if this module maintainer can't do it(or whatever reason)? I hate to be rude, but it has been a long time, and many people depend on this module for their websites.
gregarios commented@silverd: I'm all for that.
aimutch commentedThere's no reason that someone can't post a patch if they have one.

OliverColeman commentedIf anyone's interested I've made a simple module for performing node repeats based on Dates: Node Repeat. I'm not sure how different it is to eventrepeat as I never used the 5.x version but was (stupidly) relying on there being a 6.x release for a project I was working on. I think I can at least say it's much simpler than eventrepeat at least in terms of bells and whistles (at the moment anyway!) It is quite different functionally to date_repeat_nodegen, but does use Date fields and the Date Repeat API.
