Hi, i'm Carlos Rincón, founder and programmer of Neurotic. Finally, I created my personal blog two days ago using Drupal 6. You can see it at http://carlos.rinconsanchez.com. The Theme i used it's Deco, my favorite Drupal 6 theme.

I've made in my blog a post about the best modules of Drupal 6 to make a blog (the same i used for my blog, of course), it's in Spanish but i will translate for the people interested in knowing the modules that i've used (yes, my English it's a shit, sorry):

Drupal 6 modules

Must have

• Img filter: Allows to insert images into the post. Very easy and useful
• Comment Subscribe: This module allows anonymous as well as registered users to subscribe to individual comments of given node
• Meta tags: To manage metatags. Very useful to fill meta description with the node teases
• Mollom: Helps you to detectate spam and poor quality comments
• Pathauto: To automate the creation of friendly urls using placeholders
• Pingback: To manage pinbacks, better than trackback module
• Token: The Token module provides a central API for modules to use these tokens, and expose their own token values. It's needed by Pathauto module
• Tagadelic: To make a tag cloud
• Fivestar: allows users to vote the posts
• VotingAPI: Needed by Fivestar

Usefull but not indispensable

• Iconizer: Adds beautiful icons ind administration panel using pure CSS
• PHPids: PHPIDS module adds a security layer based on http://www.php-ids.org
• Search404: Instead of showing a standard "404 Page not found", this module performs a search on the keywords in the URL
• Extlink: Adds and icon to external links
• Graphstat: Graphstat uses data from the statistics, user, node, and comment modules to generate some graphs
• TextSize: This module display a text resizer in a block for better Web Accessibility.
• Google Analytics: Adds the Google Analytics web statistics tracking system to your website
• Search Engine Referers: Search Engine Referers is a simple module to view the search queries of visitors that found your site with a search engine

Must have or only useful but still with no Drupal 6 version

• XML Sitemap: XML Sitemap creates a site map in accordance with the sitemaps.org specification. For google, yahoo, ask and more
• Globalredirect: To avoid duplicate content. For example it does a redirection from node/123 to the url alias
• Related content: I still don't know what is the best for me.
• Twitter: This module provides twitter notification for new posts
• Thickbox: The Thickbox module is a wrapper for the jQuery plugin ThickBox
• Copyright: The copyright management module can set and display a copyright/license for a Drupal site and for any node
• Multiping: It allows pinging of multiple sites (configurable via a web interface). There is a Drupal 6 version but doesn't work well
