Well, I hate to create a new issue for a patch that was worked on for 3+ years, but the patch for the previous "Exclude the data from the following tables" issue (https://www.drupal.org/project/backup_migrate/issues/2290707) does not work in all cases.

If I use the scroll select to add and remove tables, there are no issues. Also, if I attempt to add a table using the checkboxes, I have no problems in that situation either.

However, if I use the "View as checkboxes" and deselect a checkbox that had previously been saved, and save the edited form, the selection is never removed. As soon as I return to edit the form, the same items are chosen.

I can work around this for now just using the scrolling select, but thought you should be aware of the issue.

That's weird. Maybe we should remove the "view as checkboxes" option for a quick fix?

Yes, it is pretty strange. That could be a quick fix, but honestly I think the functionality would be much better if the scrolling select was removed entirely and only display the checkboxes.

I think the scrolling select is pretty useless unless the site has very few fields/modules installed, which is relatively rare.

That could be a hard sell to remove a function that is working in favor of fixing one that isn't in all situations, but we'll leave this issue up and see if one of the maintainers would like to comment.

Sure, I agree, my comment is more about the usability of the checkboxes versus the scrolling select. Would like to hear from others about this problem.
