Just finished transitioning my site into a drupal based site. Would be open to your thoughts, comments, suggestions. I am thinking I might need to resize the pics in my view section (the original pic size prior to imagecache getting ahold of them) to make them load a bit faster.
Project goal: build a digital signage system for our college (Communications and Information Studies, University of Kentucky) that meets the following requirements:
- the content is modular and is easily re-arranged or re-styled
- existing content from the college CMS / web site can be displayed
- external content can be displayed (RSS, XML, etc)
- system can be controlled remotely by multiple users with different levels of access
- only open standards are used (ruling out Flash, PowerPoint), leaving the content open and accessible
- content is stored locally rather than by a third party
- system is running on open source code rather than expensive commercial software
Hardware
- Apple Xserve
- Apple mac mini (any model will do)
- mac mini mount
- an LCD panel with 1080p resolution - 40" TV in our case
- LCD mount
- an HDMI cable

The Dutch language website FondswervingOnline.nl (or "Fundraising Online") is the largest online fundraising and subsidies database in the Netherlands. The website offers businesses and NGO’s access to a community with the latest public data on subsidies, sponsorship opportunities, government funding, private investors, prizes, microcredits and more.
The initial goal of the project was to build the best possible website in its niche. We looked at Efactor.com (an entrepreneur community) for inspiration and we asked ourselves if it were possible build a similar community with Drupal. We believe it can! Our registered users have access to a mini-Facebook profile with status and activity updates. Based on the user preferences, members with identical interests are matched and can find each other, for example to cooperate in a joint fundraising application. Community pages and a forum are available to share user interests.
