Bio:

Darren is the volunteer project lead for Drupal Forge and a senior software engineer for Cognizant. He joined the Drupal community in 2005 and has been an active contributor ever since. Darren lives in Lakeland, Florida with his wife, three sons, and two cats.

I became involved with Drupal in 2005 because it was

a free platform that
provided a working site out of the box and
could be extended with new features as needed.

At the time, I was new to programming. The fact that Drupal was usable immediately after installation allowed me to spend my time contributing improvements instead of figuring out how to make it usable. Most of my work is freely available on Drupal.org, but I have also written custom code for clients and consulted on Drupal implementation. I currently work on projects for clients of my employer, Softvision.
