Show off your Drupal site

Aljaml.com is one of the oldest Arabic Drupal news sites. It started back in 2005 using a forked version of Drupal 4.6 that was optimized for performance and for supporting Arabic content. During the past 6 years, the publishers and their community were very happy with the dazzling speed, the stability and security of their portal. Recently, the site’s audience demanded a modern interface with sharing and social bookmarking features. Aljaml.com's management did not want to sacrifice their reputation as the fastest Arabic news site, so they made the strategic decision to stay on Drupal, and they contracted us at EGHNA to implement the migration.

The migration process

The first challenge was the migration of 60,000 nodes to Drupal 6. Version migrations with the Drupal upgrade scripts produced some errors, possibly because of the changes in the original database. So we decided to create a custom database upgrade script to import content into the new Drupal 6 database. Later on, this same script was used to automatically pull data from the live site and push it into the new site during the beta and parallel operation phase.

The most remarkable is an original jQuery navigation system.

The design team asked for an original navigation system. It consisted on a drop-down menu that will be used as the main navigation system.

At the same time, the menu will behave as an accordion panel containing every page with horizontal scroll bar.

My job is not to make websites, but often people ask me to help them to set up their websites. Sometimes, I spend tow hours for a website, sometimes, one night. All I did is use one theme: Garland Theme. Here I want to show you my websites with the Default garland theme:

My first site built in Drupal, and boy was it a PITA to learn, but while the learning curve was steep, at least for me, it was tremendously worth it, and I owe a tremendous amount if thanks to the community here, particularly to the generous contributors of patches and updates.

The website: http://www.futbolpunto.com allows filtering, searching and comparing information of Argentinean football players – currently only presents information about the ones who play abroad. the website is in Spanish.
I will appreciate any feedback regarding the concept but mostly I need some advice for how to increase the download time of the homepage.

sanskritonilne.com is a new sanskrit learning portal that is built using Drupal.

Since it is a leaning portal, we have not given much concentration to theming.

I have redesigned the home page using the panels so that most of the fresh content is visible on the home page.

I have create a dicitonary using views and cck. I have added the facebook like field using the Views custom field.
