Olá! Join Drupal project founder Dries Buytaert and core committer Angie Byron this December 6-8 in beautiful Brazil to bring a little Carnaval to Drupal. DrupalCon São Paulo will focus primarily on content for Drupal developers, but there will of course be plenty to offer for designers, themers, project managers, architects, engineers, and those involved with the business side of Drupal.
I helped start the Drupal Association in 2006 because we needed a checking account for the $10,000 or so required to produce a Drupal conference and to support our infrastructure. In a short six years, we grew the Drupal Association from a volunteer-run organization to one of the largest Open Source non-profit foundations with an operating budget of $3 million USD and 8 full-time employees. Today, we support over 18,000 developers, 9,000 conference attendees, 2,300 individual donors, 800 organizations, and a web presence that reaches over two million people every month.
A lot of that credit goes to Jacob Redding, who took the position of Executive Director two years ago. Under Jacob's leadership we have broadened our activities, streamlined our operations, and significantly increased our revenues. We have supported the Drupal community in its exponential growth from 70,000 members to over 800,000 and from 700 committers to over 18,000. And we are just getting started.
On Monday, July 2 from 6:00 PM to 6:30 PM PDT (01:00 to 01:30 UTC), drupal.org will be briefly brought down for updates. The main website, drupal.org, will be inaccessible, as will SSH-based access, both read and write, to all Git repositories hosted on drupal.org. Read-only access to Git repositories over the http:// or git:// protocol will be uninterrupted, as will access to all other parts of the web presence.

Drupal Global Training Days is this Friday, June 22! This is a day where training companies around the world will introduce new and beginning users to Drupal through half day, full day and virtual sessions. More than sixteen training companies representing Asia Pacific, North America, Europe, South America (and two online!) are signed up to participate on June 22. The Drupal Association launched this program of free or low cost training events to provide an easy way for new users to be introduced to Drupal and our wonderful Drupal community.
"Introduction to Drupal," a full day training on the basics of Drupal. Attendees will leave having successfully built a Drupal site. It is ideal for those interested in exploring Drupal as a career path.
“What is Drupal?” This half-day workshop will address the basics of Drupal, and will give an overview to those interested in evaluating or implementing Drupal.
