New module, WFSA, to extent content types into subtypes with webform

Hi,

I've developed a basic module, Webform submission attachments (WFSA), which combine webform submissions with nodes, merging node fields with webform fields in creation & edition forms, and in node display.

With it, it's possible to have a kind of flexible node subtype support, using a base content type (that can be used alone) and multiple subtypes.

I'd appreciate any feedback. Still in development, but functional.

Docs Team spring 2011 update

Hello from Jennifer and Ariane, your friendly Drupal Documentation Team co-leads! It’s time for another quarterly update on what’s happening in the Documentation Team—a lot has been going on since our last update (December 24, 2010), and we’d like to take this time to review the past quarter, talk a bit about the future, and let you know how to get involved! (Be sure not to miss the info at the very end about the April 2011 month-long documentation sprint priorities!)

Long-term goals and vision

People have been asking us about the long-term goals and vision of the Documentation Team lately. We’ve outlined some goals for the next year or so, but as of yet, we haven’t really articulated anything out farther than that. Rest assured, we will be thinking about longer-term goals and vision soon, but as new Documentation Team leads, we are currently still trying to get the basics taken care of and assess where we are and what resources we have for changing directions. That said, we do have some overarching goals:

  • Make the documentation more complete and more accurate.
  • Make it easier for users of all levels to navigate the documentation.
  • Facilitate documentation work, so more people can help and those who are already helping want to continue.

This fantastic program also gets Drupal some amazing new coding projects done! More information about the program is available in the Google Summer of Code website and program timeline.

Government opts for Drupal

The House has decided to replace the current Tridion open source CMS Drupal. Drupal is preferred over Hippo, Typo2 and Plone for its great flexibility and expanded capabilities.

Other systems in the race
Besides Drupal took them into other systems in the selection process of the government. All were open-source CMS systems, although this was not a requirement. After intensive selection process and Hippo Drupal remaining on the shortlist, then the choice finally fell on Drupal. The precise selection criteria were not known.

New direction
The job that the House is looking for a Senior Drupal specialist for a job in five months. This specialist would have to deal with the conversion of the 5 areas (4 sites and an Intranet) to the new CMS. During this migration, the content, format and layout are not changed.

Because the House has chosen Drupal they differ from the other ministries, which currently still working with Hippo CMS. By switching to Drupal, the Dutch government follows the example of the U.S. government. These steps not only to Drupal, but will also contribute to the code itself.
