Matt Obert (hotwebmatter)

I’m a creative technologist and Acquia Certified Drupal 8 Site Builder with more than twenty years of experience building and hosting websites. I've been a Linux system and database administrator since the late 1990s, and became an early adopter of content management systems like Drupal and WordPress in the early 2000s.

A committed Open Source evangelist, my websites have always been browser and platform agnostic. I’ve kept up with emerging trends in design, build environments and tooling, and deployment. I build responsive, mobile-first sites with accessibility in mind, and have participated in an accessibility audit for a Blue Cross website which met WCAG A and AA standards.

I have extensive experience bringing information into and out of the digital realm, including web design, database administration, desktop publishing, and even (as a founding Key Member of AS220’s Print Shop) printmaking. I’m passionate about using art, design and technology to power community engagement and social responsibility.

I am the Vice President of Providence Community Radio, a 100-watt Low-Power FM station broadcasting since 2018 on 101.1 FM WVVX-LP in Providence, Rhode Island on Wednesdays from 6-10pm and Thursdays from noon-6pm.
