Hi, After a long inactive time on Drupal.org, I would like to propose a possible new documentation project.
I did start a clone of the fantastic Rockclimbr.com Project. In my modest opinion a great opportunity to introduce Drupal features in a bit more complex environment.
With this proposal I would like to rejoin the Documentation Team and if suitable build a special section in documentation for this project, also important if you consider that I will build the explanations from the point of a general/normal user as to facilitate newcomer to understand how to start over in using CCK and Views.
I renamed the project "Thanage Camp" and are going also to supply the site raw zipped files as for others to participate. Of course I would be very happy if anyone interested could also support me in build up this project as to provide as much accessibility to the Drupal Community.
I already have setup a test site at http://camp.thanage.eu . The status is meanwhile "Under development" because not all the core and contributed modules have been updated to the last status. I'm working on that.
So would appreciate your feedback. Thanks!

This is a Project Overview
The Drupal implementation project for trying to clone a Basecamp similar application was started with a session at Do-It-With-Drupal. Thanks to the Lullabot Team they have provided the online Rockclimbr.com testing site in a zipped file. The Rockclimbr.com was implememted with the Drupal 6.6 version. Following contributed modules were installed:

Wolfflow commentedHi Folk, The Thanage Basecamp-Clone is Up and running.
All update (core and contrib) are done.
The site http://camp.thanage.eu
is Drupal 6.14 all contributed Modules are at the last stable version.
Note: I'm aware that there are still hesitations to provide me feedback from the Documentation Team,
but this is a kind of reconciliation offer I want to make.
I'm not angry if "You" are still not be ready for accepting.
Kind Regards

Wolfflow commentedI change the Title to reflect better my motivations and plans.
As the Upgrade procedure is done, I will inform you that I'm planning to build a Drupal-Basecamp Profile installation.
This of course will take some time. At accomplishment I would like to share the Installation Profile here at Drupal.org
so any suggestion and hints is very much appreciate.

leehunter commentedSounds like an interesting project.
If you wish to provide documentation, it sounds like it would be a good fit for the Site Recipes section: http://drupal.org/handbook/site-recipes

Wolfflow commentedHi to all interested followers:
I managed to build an external repository at: http://bitbucket.org/wolfflow/thanagecamp/
I really am new to this so if there is something that I did not setup right please notice me. Thanks!

hopefully someone with documentation permissions will find interest to join my efforts, meanwhile avaiting further feedback from the community.

add1sun commentedHi Wolfflow, it does sound like a good project. You should feel free to start documentation in the site recipes section. I'm not sure what it is though that requires doc admin rights. Everyone with a d.o account can create new pages so please go ahead and get started.

Wolfflow commented@add1sun
Thanks for "sound like a good project". I just though, that there are a lot of change to the d.o.design so I do not have an overview about where you can edit new pages where not. Also because I do not want to start this alone but wait to find someone interested and with enough Drupal knowledge to supervise and help me in review documentation text and also collaborate on the test site. So please if someone of the Doc Team could support me in find the best suitable title for a page in Site Recipes and summarize the main part this pages should contain, that wuold represent a great help for me.
Thanks

macrodesign commentedhi Wolfflow,
I am interested in this project and I have several ideas for such a project already in my mind for a while. I have been testing project management applications for some time and keen on deploying drupal since I saw the video about rockclimbr.com aka basecamp tutorial (workshop) I was kind of convinced.
Ok here is what I can do with you.
1. Help you in documentation
2. Find technical information
3. Find relavent modules
4. Help develop by testing and continous feedback
I hope it is the right place to write all this.
Best regards
D

luckysmack commentedI am also interested in this. im not sure how much i will be able to help but I would like to know more. Im trying to get a project management site up and going for an intranet. The site you linked to above looks fantastic, what the whole site done in drupal? http://bitbucket.org/wolfflow/thanagecamp/
Even if you dont get to write the site recipie yet I would love some feed back on how you managed to integrate everything and what modules you used. And I would be willing to give any feedback I can, though im not strong on the development side of drupal i would help with what i could.

andrewfn commentedI downloaded http://bitbucket.org/wolfflow/thanagecamp/ and went to set it up but there is no sql database file. I tried using the one that comes with rockclimbr, but it gives lots of errors (as you would expect)
I then followed the instructions on http://bitbucket.org/wolfflow/thanagecamp/wiki/Home but as I expected, this creates an almost standard Drupal installation with the exception that there are a few more modules available (but uninstalled of course), and a few content types (but no CCK so they are all different names for story).
Could you possibly do a dump of your database and add it to the repository in the same way rockclimbr did? It would be great to have a README as well. I think this project has a lot of potential. Thanks for your work!

Wolfflow commentedHi @macrodesign @bigmack83 @andrewfn
I'm very glad you do have interest in contributing in this project. Thanks for your feedback.
I'm going to describe you some developments that toke place and myself have get a bit more deeper in this matter.
I dont wnat you to waste your time so try to focus that the original rockclimbr project have it's mayor development stage with the Open Atrium Project.
I did start to review the Drupal core and contributed modules code for develop an independent project management app version that do not need to relay on an external server (meaning out of Drupal.org update service) for the sake of sharing with the community a Open Project development.
The main efforts lies in starting to rewrite and test some custom configurations that the great Open Atrium Team of Developmentseed.org did write.
I am beginning to approach php programming so be aware that I'm not a Geek so far. But surely I will stay tuned on this Goal.
Get some confidence with the Open Atrium Project and let me know.
All of is at a very beginning stage but I really appreciate your interest and if you are still interested in contributing please send me a short email and we will start to share
the interest and begin to rock.
Thanks!

Wolfflow commented== Update - Advice 08.Jannuary.2010 ==
As for our further developing of this project we started a new Site: ( http://oproject.thanage.eu/ ) = OPROJECT
that is the update development of our enterprise to furnish a full Drupal compatible project management app vs
the ( http://openatrium.com/ ) project. We would be happy to see you join our efforts.

Can you give the reader a status update?
Thanks.
Wolfflow commentedHi @estone, Hi all,
This Project is still active, but does not have a an updated site showcase due to our efforts to recode all necessary customs module. At the moment I'm configuring a own CVS-Server as to provide a direct collaborative platform for those who want participate.
So this will take a bit more time, considering that I started November 4, 2009 with this posting, I can understand that its a long time and I did not continue to post all our progress here and I'm sorry for this, but at the moment I can't change this. So considered this post suspended.
If we will be ready with the CVS-Repository and Demo Site I will inform you here also. Thanks
Comment #18
Wolfflow commentedI change the status to close and only reopen it if the CVS-Repository and Demo-Site will be online.

robonoob commentedHi Wolfflow
Would you please let us know when a demo site of thanagecamp / OProject will be ready?
I found that the site http://camp.thanage.eu no longer active.
Wolfflow commentedHi @robonoob, I'm sorry to say that this project is suspended. Due to the great development of the main and most popular Drupal distributions,
OpenAtrium and Drupal Commons
said very generally, even IMHO the two distribution differ from the structure development strategy and as from the point of integration with standard Drupal installations.
1. Open Atrium : own translation service for OpenAtrium UI and features and spaces as casetracker modules oriented.
2. Drupal Commons: OG and features and context and panels modules oriented.
Both are great projects and we will see a great future development of the two and perhaps other one's.
This post will merely follow up future developments in this Drupal awesome and exciting branch and I'm still testing and get as much experience to trim the quality, features and performances of those and other projects.
Regards
Edit: add some missing module information.
robonoob commentedThanks @Wilfflow,
I'll look into the OpenAtrium, Redmine and Drupal Commons. I think we all drupal developer are also looking forward for D7 releases, right?
In the mean time, I found that there were, and is, a great demand on a drupal-based project management solution. And the release of Rockclimbr caused a great excitement.
Thanks. and keep it up. Your efforts on forging a drupal based project management suite will be remembered by the community.
Wolfflow commented@Robonoob:
Thanks for your nice comment. Just to specify, I'm still a Drupal developers student in Drupal, but with the Rockrclimb I started to dive in Drupal with great passion and enthusiasm in learning how to test and tweak the project to my needs. Following the code of any Drupal install profiles since Rockrclimb to the today existing drupal-based project management solutions gave me the opportunity to accelerate significantly my Drupal code knowledge and experience. I did take this choice because a Drupal developer beginner can learn more in this way and make faster progresses as to follow only Drupal documentation.
I'm sure that Drupal 7 will bring new features and new facilities to end users, but as IMHO Drupal 6 have still great potential and Drupal 7 still not out, I am focusing my Drupal learning and testing and development and custom code to Drupal 6.
