This module is for individuals who want to be to able categorize the items in entity reference form fields based on a shared property instead of just listing them as check boxes or radio options. When this module is enabled you are able to group items into collapsible accodiardians where the label is selected grouping.

Say you need to create a field that lists all the digital displays you have across all university campuses. You create a 'Display' content type with a Field called facilities. A 'Facility' content type with a field called campus. Last a 'Campus' taxonomy vocabulary. So every display has a designated facility and campus it is located in. With this module your displays can be grouped by a number of options like the facility or campus names.
