my-plant.org - Phylogenetically Based Social Network for the Plant Sciences

http://www.my-plant.org

Only local images are allowed.

My-Plant.org is a social networking community for plant biologists, educators and other interested parties to come together to share information and research, collaborate, and stay on top of the latest developments in plant science. Part of the iPlant Collaborative, My-Plant.org is a key part of the community outreach, education and collaboration goals of the iPlant project. The My-Plant network is organized based on the phylogeny of plants so that users can easily gather around clades of interest related to various species and groups of species. As such, members and visitors can browse the network and follow the relationships between clades to discover new communities and develop collaborations related to their own work. My-Plant is more than just another social networking site, My-Plant.org also provides integrations and links into other sites, tools and repositories of information both within iPlant and across the community as a whole. This includes connecting users to the iPlant Discovery Environment, the NCBI Taxonomic Database, the Tree of Life web project, TreeBASE, and the Encyclopedia of Life. My-Plant.org is currently under development and welcomes feedback from the community.

"Ice Scan" consumer electronics search engine on Drupal

Ice Scan is a product search engine for consumer electronics, computer hardware and software, telephony, mobile phones, household appliances, and much more...

www.icescan.com - USA version

Ice Scan uses the domain and i18n modules to build a fully multi-domain, multi-site and multi-lingual system: 12 languages, 11 domains, 11 Solr databases - all from 1 Drupal core using 1 MySQL database, on 1 server.

When I read TheFind.com was funded with 20 million USD investment capital,... (back in 2005)... I knew it could be done on Drupal for nothing. And it looks like I'm going to be right. I imagined these large corporations spent millions $$ alone on their 'patentend search technologies'. But a similar, equally powerful search technology ships for free in Drupal's Apache Solr Integration Project. No need to re-invent the wheel.

This is a personal project and still just a try-out for a much bigger project. Eventually the idea is to compete with TheFind.com and Google Shopping. The system will also be released as a Drupal installation profile, so others can setup their own affiliate product search system. Release date for such a profile will take a while, expect it around late 2011, early 2012, and will be done on Drupal 7, when the time comes. I first need to focus on building the new business and a series of such search sites.

Cargoh.com- Drupal Ubercart powered Marketplace

In 2009 Appnovation Technologies was asked to design and develop a Drupal based community and e-commerce website called Cargoh. The driving idea behind the site is to create a “social marketplace” for independent artists from all over the world to be able to showcase and sell their products and services. It features community tools such as forums, an internal messaging system and events section.

Cargoh.com was founded by Paul and Cariann Burger when they noticed the lack of avenues for independent artists, designers and musicians to get their work to the world. They realized that some of the most talented people in the world were making them coffee in the morning at the local coffee shop. They set out to change that by creating a super accessible, highly affordable and unbelievably feature rich venue for artists, designers and musicians to sell the things they create. Above that, they wanted to create the world's best online shopping mall for all the uniquely independent products in the world. So from those two missions, Cargoh.com was born. The world's most exciting social marketplace for independent creatives!
